This title sounds like nonsense until you read the article. They reason market saturation happens when all power grid capacity is used up by GPUs in service. So increasing efficiency gives a new modernizing incentive to data center operators. So nvidia can keep out-producing the market and keep deprecation cycles going.
Every kilowatt of stranded power is a GPU that Nvidia could have sold, so Nvidia’s DSX platform aims to address both problems.
Data centres aren’t buying more GPUs because the grid can’t handle the load. By producing more energy-efficient chips, the data centre can buy more while still sucking the same amount of power. It’s all about money, really.
