Technology@lemmy.ml•DuckDuckGo starting to give more "personal" search results
18·2 years agoYep.
For the simple response - they group all the searches from your location based on IP, and the results are weighted from that.
So if your town has a airshow on, all the DDG users that search for airshow near you will bump those responses up the weighting scale for all uses in your area. Regardless of you search for it.
One of the subs that was mentioning her had an update: she updated some files on GitHub in Jan. That’s the last mention?

Google is aware of it and blocked it last time so telling people about it isn’t anything new.

Technology@lemmy.ml•The Mighty Cybertruck Keeps Getting Stuck in the Snow
4·2 years agoI used to have an old Subaru (Leone, 83).
I could get it anywhere in the snow. It was so easy to drive. It had absolute pizza cutters for tyres.
Once drove up to a ski field without chains on. Was one of only 7 cars to make it to the top (with zero issues) because there was so much snow.
Was a blast to drive.
I tried the new update (experimental)… The blood red rivers make it interesting

Gaming@beehaw.org•So, Microsoft now owns Activision Blizzard. How will this affect the rest of the industry?
8·2 years agoOne thing missed is the fresh set of eyes on old IP.
Some of the older games / IP that is being bought over has had no or little interest with the old group, so the new company may have a team inside that says “hey we use that now”.
It doesn’t always work. But it’s better than nothing.

I do
Mine works. Sometimes it gives me a “recommended” podcast from my list instead of what I was listening to, but I just enter the app and go to queue and select th one at the top.
