Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Spain is blocking unrelated internet addresses because of soccerEnglish
9·4 months agoIf they are using their ISP’s DNS server they probably don’t even need to use DoH or DoT, just switching to a independent DNS server is often enough. But yeah, otherwise using an encrypted DNS connection should also fix this.
Ah, good old Santa Claus. Also known as Kabouter Buttplug (Buttplug Gnome) for mysterious reasons.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Um... I'm not even using a VPN... Fuck you reddit.English
51·4 months agoAh, sounds like the issue is not DoH in that case, that would be impossible for Reddit to detect if you are using a browser. I suspect a domain gets blocked in one of your proxies, or Reddit returns alternative records to recursors they know are being used for privacy reasons.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Um... I'm not even using a VPN... Fuck you reddit.English
9·4 months agoCan you enlighten me how that would work, as that makes no sense to me from a technical standpoint?
I fail to see how Reddit would be able to know how you are communicating with a random recursive resolver on the internet. Or are you running your own recursor and trying to use DoH to access their authoritative servers?
Edit: I hope I don’t come across as harsh, it’s meant as a genuine question and not to doubt your story. 🙂

10·4 months agoDon’t know who he is supposed to be, but if you think your balls are big enough that you feel the need to use them as your online handle: please get the boys checked for testicular cancer.

21·4 months agoThe solution is obviously that the bikers are to join the daily traffic jam in a car, instead of entirely skipping the queue like selfish bastards.

10·5 months agoMy rats were pretty intelligent and they didn’t shit where they ate or slept. And they weren’t in the Epstein files. So this comparison doesn’t fly at all.
On the bright side, you’ve now got squeaky clean disk space to fill with new projects!

What would it be? The next Linux display manager? Something as impactful as Docker or Kubernetes? The early beginnings of a radical new OS?
Nope, it turns out to be shit. 💩

I’m so glad crap like that isn’t valid in the EU.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Please create a non-secure password.English
5·11 months agoI let my password manager create 32 char passwords, that should be enough for a while. But of course then you have websites that throw you a ‘your password is too long’ message and have you find out by trial and error that they only accept 12 characters.
Or the off-by-one errors where they insist that 24 chars are the max, but in reality they accept 23. Probably never tested the limit.
Or websites that truncate your password after X characters when registering, but not when logging in, so you end up with an incorrect password and good luck finding out which limit the registration page actually uses.

4·11 months agobut mysqli_real_escape_string() or any number of other similar solutions are indeed a thing that exists. A prepared statement would work, too.
You make it sound as if a prepared statement is a last resort. I would turn that around: as a rule always use prepared statements when dealing with user input. It’s very easy to forget a single call to
mysqli_real_escape_string().

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Start ups when that VC funding kicks in
2·2 years agoYes, they can indeed be a problem for people with allergies. In my case dogs (and cats unfortunately) trigger respiratory issues. I had that issue at a workplace where dogs were allowed, not fun times. And unfortunately medication like antihistamines are not an option for everybody, personally I get extremely drowsy from them, even from the latest generation meds.
For GNU
tarit is, for any other version I would not be so sure. Especially when disabling an atomic bomb.
Isn’t dendrite formation and the shorts they can cause a much bigger concern when dealing with old batteries that are being charged 24/7? Asking a genuine question here, so please don’t shoot me if I’m wrong. 🙂 I’d love to hear more about the most common failure modes and causes for li-po/ion batteries.
