Regular doors with handles don’t fail open, there is just an Intuitive and common way to manually open them, which seems like the short coming here.

Y’all get infuriated (even if only mildly so) at some of the weirdest shit. This is just funny.
Oh, I went full Jesus during the pandemic, with long hair and let my beard grow out. . .and it just never made up for the fact that I have literal bald patches throughout it. . .I almost needed a comb over on my beard it was so pathetic.
That, and I have seborrheic dermatitis, and growing a beard makes it flair up and it seems the only way to get rid of it is for me to shave when it happens. And then I just have a red face which is no good.
Better for me to just stay clean shaven. lol
Interesting…what do you think is better about the safety razor? I could never really get the hang of them.
If your beard looked as bad as mine, you’d continue to shave too lol
It’s expensive up front, but I switched to a leaf razor years ago i just had buy a new pack of 100 razors for 19 bucks. I use 3 at a time, but they last a long time.
They last a long time, are cheaper, I get a better shave (especially since moving to a puck and horsehair brush), and I don’t generate nearly any plastic trash.
I can’t recommend moving over enough.
I bought 5 years ago when it was still reasonable. I have a great rate on a great house that has increased by about 50% since I bought it.
I don’t want to, because this is just about the perfect size house for us in a great location, but I can’t really “trade up” as the interest rates are through the roof and everything is more expensive too.
It really depends on how complicated your set up is and how much you value your privacy. I use personal capital (now empower), which also helps me manage a budget as well, and see our multiple investment accounts all in one place, so I can balance both mine and my wife’s. So I would recommend that, with the caveat that you might not feel comfortable sharing all of that with a third party.
Yeah it’s not for everyone, but I just have an event on my calendar for every six months, and I just rebalance when it goes off. Only takes a short while, especially if you are using some tool that will tell you what your weights are.
If you’re really hands off these are a good choice. But if you are willing to rebalance a couple of times a year, it’s unnecessary to pay the extra fees associated with these funds.
Yeah it’s a lot of fun. I had a few adults that were there the whole time, but then a bunch of other neighbors/friends wandered in and out throughout the night. Probably had a total of about 10 different people hanging out.
Normally I wear a costume, but mine fell apart this year.
Lol I’m definitely doing this next year
At my house we get north of 200 kids every year it’s decent outside. Sometimes over 250. We’re talking about a kid every minute for the 3.5 hours we do it.
I just set up a table outside, invite a few friends over, drink some beers and give kids candy as they show up. Fuck having to answer the door every minute for 3.5 hours.
My older neighbors complained that the kids don’t have to come up to the front door and are skipping their house because I sit outside. I felt a little guilty, but honestly sitting outside (it it’s cold I get a fire pit going, not tonight tho) is much nicer. One older couple followed my lead this year and agreed. So I’m over it now. Welcome to the new world.
I find working with AI to help me understand way better.
Using Linux as an example. If I search for “give me the size of each subdirectory in the current directory” the stack overflow answer will be “just type du -h --max-depth=1” so you copy and paste it and, voila!, it’s exactly what you want. Except I have no idea what any of it means.
However, I ask chatgpt, and it will explain that du means disk usage, -h gives a human readable form, and --max-depth=1 will only go down 1 level, without showing all of the subdirectories.
So now I’ve learned something.
Additionally, with coding, it’s a lot like rubber duck debugging for me. Just formulating my question will often lead to an answer, or trying to explain what went wrong with the AI solution helps me get to the proper answer.
And doesn’t insult you, and gives you an answer far more tailored to your issue.
My wife had a very stressful and demanding job that paid well. I sacrificed my career advancement so she could pursue this dream. After a few years she burned out, was miserable, and wanted to quit to find a new job. However this came with a huge pay cut too which made the decision more difficult and I was (hopefully understandably) frustrated because I had made all of these sacrifices so she could follow her dream.
But I wanted her to be happy so we figured it out.
Moral of this story? Since then I’ve learned how much truth there is to the “happy wife, happy life” idiom.
Other than untracking tracked files, I see nothing in this graphic that isn’t easy to do with a gui. That might even be easy to do but it is something I do in the cli. Can I get some examples?
I would also argue that the common/basic stuff is 99% of what I do with git. And for this I can’t fathom why people would think the cli is better. Like logging and diffing is just so much easier when I can just scroll and click as opposed to having to do a log command, scroll, then remember the hashes, and then write the command. This is something instantly available to me in a gui.
Don’t get me wrong, if the cli is better for you more power to you. We moved from p4 to git and I did this almost exclusively in the cli so I could use scripts more easily. And sometimes I watch beginners use the gui and I have to bite my tongue because I know it would be faster in the cli.
But, especially for a beginner, i strongly recommend a gui.
I guess to each their own because having to hang a cheat sheet on my wall with got commands seems like the exact opposite of good aesthetics to me.
Has this ever actually found a bot?
