3·5 months agoFor a while I had been using the “To Do” list that’s built in through Hotmail and the iOS app.
But nowadays I’ve been using TickTick app for the to-do’s.

1·5 months agoDo you experience any crashes with D1? I was planning to purchase D1 on sale but then I remembered, I had terrible experience with D2.
Continuously crashing which results in having to do missions over and over again. Eventually quit D2.

30·6 months agoSigh, the more I read about Nintendo Switch 2… The more nonsense it becomes.
I actually was curious about the Switch 2 and was wondering about Donkey Kong Bananza. Though, the more I read, the more I hesitate to purchase one later on.

Yeah, your right. uBlock Origin block advertisement on the browser. However, Spicetify blocks advertisement within the desktop app and allows for multiple add-ons/ extension plus customizing your entire app.

Gaming@beehaw.org•I’m in dire need of a new monitor but, it seems, it is harder to find a good one than I thought.
1·8 months agoI have that Asus XG27ACS, bought it a couple of months this ago. I’ve been very happy with it.
How’s the IPS glow/ backlight bleed in dark scenes and games?
It didn’t cost a fortune either. I think its the cheapest monitor I’ve bought in 20 years but it’s as good as any I’ve had before.
I’m tempted to either get an W-OLED (ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG) or re-purchase the Asus XG27ACS in a different store with the hope it will work.

2·8 months agoI have been using IPS displays for many years, and I had to look up what is IPS glow.
I was the same as you with my old (still current) monitor but then, I bought the DELL and it was well, very notable: DELL IPS Glow (IPS Bleed?). To the point it was not a black screen anymore. It never really bothered me until, I had the DELL for a short time.

2·8 months agoSmear and ghosting are bad on VA in my experience. I had one around when Miles Morales first came out and it was so bad I thought my tv was broken, and Samsung agreed and sent a guy to replace the panel.
That’s what I have been reading here and there, that VA are good for visuals (movies, tv shows and such) but bad for gaming. Though it seems that some people have a decent experience with VA panels when gaming but I don’t want to risk it (yet). Unfortunate that the new panel did the same thing.
bought an OLED.
How has the OLED monitor been for you when gaming (and either general usage or office work)? Response time, text clarity, motion and actual black screen? Since like another person said that there’s not really one-fit and always have to have a compronis (IPS with glow and OLED with possible burn-in), I’m tempted to purchase* an OLED monitor for around €600 and then just save up money for when the burn-in happens. I have been trying to find a decent monitor for quite a few months, so I have become a bit impatient and just want a good monitor to game mostly (say 80% gaming and the 20% is either browsing, movies, tv shows and office work).

3·8 months agoYeah, so from them (Monitor Unboxed) and Rtings I had gotten to the point to purchase the DELL G2724D but unfortunately that ended in bad luck.

2·8 months agoHow’s gaming on the monitor? I kept reading about how VA isn’t good for gaming due to black smearing and motion blur issue.
Yeah, the IPS glow is a major issue. When I bought the 24G2 4 years ago, it was on a whim and probably had luck. Now it’s tough to find a good IPS monitor.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Adult gamers of Lemmy how do you find time to game without being exhausted of the screen?
2·9 months agoYou can change your context with a new console, but I think it may be cheaper to do something like buying a controller and playing games while standing up, or on your couch/armchair
I will try this! Will try the standing. Though, eventually I’ll sit due just tired of standing up. The gaming PC is in my bedroom so there’s not really much room for couch and such.
I have a controller that, I often use but same issue happens of being exhausted of the feeling ‘being behind a desk and screen’.
You can also achieve this by identifying the things that you have to do in your job that mirror videogame genres you enjoy and picking a game that shares few of those qualities.
The thing is, I don’t think anything mirrors my work. I currently have a very basic accounting job and it’s not even that demanding. My work week exists of a mix with doing accounting, listen to podcasts, watching videos on phone and such.
It’s one of the most relax work I have ever had to be honest. Yet it’s the first job where this feeling of exhaustion started.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Adult gamers of Lemmy how do you find time to game without being exhausted of the screen?
1·9 months agoI also find stress relief games. Mindless 3rd person action games for me. Mad Max was great because I could drive around picking fights or crashing stuff. The Batman Arkham games and the Shadow of Mordor games are other great examples for me.
Yeah, so for me it would be most Switch games through emulation (such as Captain Toad, 3D World and Odyssey) and P3R/P5R.
I have not found any relaxing “cozy” games that work for me. Nothing has really grabbed my attention enough to stick with.
I checked ‘cozy’ games but like you, they don’t seem to be my type of games.
I’m truly debating about the Deck but €670 is a lot to invest when being uncertain. Also what if it wouldn’t fix the exhaustion issue of screens and desks.

2·9 months agoHow long have you been working a day job? It might just be a period of adjustment.
For about 2 months and a few days now. So I think, I already adjusted to the changes.
School life vs work life is a lot different, so it takes time to adjust for most people.
Definitely! It was tough the first few weeks, lol.
Also, if you work from home, that may also be a factor. If so, try not working where you game if possible. That was a huge thing for me.
At the moment I don’t yet, I purposely asked if I could work full time at office. I still live with parents and the distractions are a bit much. Might try working from home sooner or later though.

1·9 months agoI’m currently playing Final Fantasy 16, about 3 hours in. So far, so good.
Once (finally) my new monitor arrives, I’ll re-start with couple of games that I had to put down due to monitor giving me trouble (white lines, lagging and such);
- Last of us part 1 remake
- Plague tale requiem
- Hell Blade 2

Gaming@beehaw.org•Is there any (single player playable) game with $10 which has made you point any go "haha" or given you an equivalent feeling because it was that enjoyable for every moment you played it?
5·1 year agoI bought Hollow Knight for €7,50 long while ago and it was such an amazing game. Loved every second of it. The characters, story, world-building, it’s all immensely well done and you can notice it’s done with their hearts-content.
Another game that I bought on sale, that was below the €10 were the Ori games. The story was incredibly good (especially of the first game), got me teared up at the end lol. and liked the platforming too. Preferred the combat of the second game though.
Quantum Break is another one I bought on sale below €10; The story was decent but got me thinking ‘‘imagine people found an actual way to do this’’.

I had this once happen few years ago with university books. Got emailed that it was delivered but I didn’t receive it and was home all day. Got them the day after.
I’m playing mixed games;
Mainly Mario kart though, chill to take your mind off after work (and when working at home, ha). Though, I’ll stop playing most of these games when Silksong gets released this Thursday.
