It’s more like “Slapping on the wrist isn’t helping.” The Alex Jones bankruptcy is the first time I’ve seen anyone fined significantly to the point of it mattering. Fines are meant to be significant enough that the company would do its best to avoid them. If the fine is palpable, then it’s just the cost of doing business.
My only dash of hope is there’ll be spinoffs.

I honestly think there’s a gray area here and it’s worth talking to a lawyer if anything. There are certainly some protections for peoples under 40. Being denied a promotion because you’re “too young” is certainly a protection. The catch is you have to prove it.
This case is easy to prove though if there are any laws over this.
Edit: but now that I think about it, this is only really a protection if you’re already hired at the place. If you just slam the door on people before they can get in, discrimination seems to be legal.
Lower Decks is the entire reason I’ve even begun my Star Trek adventure. I’d watch Trek occasionally whenever it was on TV, but now I’ve watched all of LD, DISC, SNW, TOS, the first 6 movies, 6 seasons of TNG, and 1 Season of ENT in like the past 2 months or so.
Yeah, another way I’ve heard it phrased is comments are for explaining why you did things a certain way, not for explaining what it’s doing.

I honestly only watch them when I’m super bored or high in bed when I want quick laughs. But honestly, the same question can be asked of people who scroll on Facebook, lemmy, or Reddit hours on end
Oh yeah I was only posting dumb comments for content for lemmy. The issue is definitely because YouTube is pushing them front and center on the home screen of the app.
I’ve never actually searched for shorts either; I only ever watch my shorts via clicking on the “Shorts” link at the bottom of the app.
I’m sorry guys, I actually watch the YouTube Shorts so Google pushing them into more people is my fault. I just don’t care to download Tik Tok and have yet another app. 😭
