When SSDs first were becoming mainstream and were kinda spendy, tons of R*editors spewed “it’s not important because it only affects loading time. I can wait for another 20 seconds” when games coming out would have hella microstutters, and the load times could count up to minutes per screen. Playing Bethesda games on a HDD was a nightmare, going in and out of houses!

I have a fast NVMe drive and some good SATA SSDs in my main machine, and there is only a couple second difference in loading between those. But I’d never run a program off’a HDD again.

Well, they’re seven years old. They lasted much longer when they were my daily drivers. My pros I use now last much longer.

My AirPods never did this, but my AirPod Pros do this sometimes. I think it’s cuz I never clean the contacts, but alas.

I don’t use my regular AirPods much after getting my pros last year, but I gotta say… fuckin amazing headphones. My old regular pair still lasts 2-3 hours on a charge, and I used them 40+ hours weekly for years.

I doubt Menards exists in a country where someone uses the term “bollocks”, but that’s fair. I’m curious to know how many Brit places have mail-in rebates nowadays.

I use my credit card for everything, and pay it off fully every month.

I had to do a chargeback once. Convert tickets bought in December 2019, concert obviously cancelled. Ticket site wouldn’t refund, they just kept saying “oh just wait until it’s rescheduled” when I E-mailed for a refund. I asked four times. I told them “even if it is rescheduled, I’m not going to a concert in a pandemic.”

I went to my credit card’s web site, clicked a button, wrote a sentence, and the charge was gone. Never heard about it again. It’s truly the way to go.

I worked retail almost 20 years ago and that was the last time I saw a rebate. I haven’t had to mail in or apply for a rebate in ages.

That’s why I only watch movies at home… I need comfort.
