I didn’t even know these sorts of mini racks existed. now I’m going to have to get one for all my half sized preamps if they’ll fit. That would solve like half the problems with my studio room and may help bring back some of my spark for making music.

My detailed explanation at my old job is that the dev team was full of idiots who hardcoded ipv4 addresses into their fucking code. Seriously. When we migrated from data center to cloud they had to go patch everything. The CTO wouldn’t do shit about it and the director was just there riding things out until retirement.
I had no idea what that was so I had to look. Unfortunately I’ve never been on the toy collectable train. I have a couple of those vinyl bobblehead things (their name escapes me) that were given to me and a couple of tabletop minis I painted but that’s the closest I ever came.
I get it. I really do. And I hate it because I like cowboy hats. They’re comfy and offer nice sun protection. The smaller brimmed ones look pretty good with most of the things I wear. It’s just that 90% of the people wearing one are scumbags. Worse, the biggest scumbags that wear them always look fucking stupid in them because they have no idea how to shape them for their face.
It’s a good rule of thumb. They ruined my punisher T-shirts. They ruined my cowboy hats. They ruined Norse runes. Next they’ll ruin my rainbow bracelets.
Thing is, if it only happens a few times or once in a while that’s exactly how they treat it. But if the restaurants or drivers in your area are shitty and you’re constantly missing one item then your choices are to suck it up and pay for it or you can’t get delivery after a short while.
All of the formerly food delivery apps are like that. I hate it. And if you don’t get your stuff often enough or if the restaurant gets your order wrong too often they’ll tell you that you’re not allowed to get your money back anymore. And if you do a chargeback they won’t let you order until you pay them.
And that’s fine with me because I stopped using them a few years ago except once in a very great while. But I feel sorry for the people who rely on food delivery because they’re disabled or have time constraints due to working half a dozen jobs to make ends meet. I’ve got a buddy who can’t use Uber eats anymore because of this. He’s taking care of two kids and holding down a job that has him working far more than he should and he has no executive function and very little time left over.

That’s fucking wild. I have two cards that are occasionally declined because they want to make sure I’m making the transaction. I can afford it but I’d be pissed paying a fee because my credit card company suspected I might not be the one wanting to upgrade to a second phone or whatever.

You’re right. The other side of that is I did a little contract work for a company that is working on software for unmanned commercial flights.
Those guys actually made me feel better. They were all super smart, meticulous, and incredibly good at their jobs. It was the first environment I’ve ever been in where I felt like I could just barely keep up. I always felt one commit away from fucking things up. So I moseyed on down the road as soon as the thing I was contracted for was finished.
It was such a cool job and they offered me a permanent place. I just couldn’t feel behind every single day for the rest of my career until my system destroyed people’s lives.
I worked at an MSP for years and had clients who would send it back and forth that way to each other. The most common were medical practices, but banking wasn’t far behind.
Fax was considered secure because you could lock up the fax machine physically.
My favorite setup was a medical practice that dealt with stomach issues, including colon cancer, and their neighbor in the same building who was a pathology lab. They both had the PDF to fax and fax to PDF servers set up to send back and forth when someone could just walk 50 feet and hand over paperwork.

Didn’t Comcast change their consumer name to Xfinity because they were so universally hated? CenturyLink comes in at the top of a lot of the “most hated” lists as well. They own what used to be Level 3 who, shockingly, were also pretty much hated by everyone who had to use them.
I’ve thought about getting an air fryer just for this. I usually use the oven or toss it in a pan.
If I’m having leftover pizza for lunch while smoking a brisket or ribs I’ll toss a couple of slices on the smoker on an uncoated paper plate. That’s actually my preferred method but I refuse to crank up a smoker for leftover pizza.
I want to speak to this a bit because I enjoy a lot of flawed things, SNW included. I also don’t spend time complaining about entertainment I don’t like because if I don’t like it I just don’t talk about it at all. I used to spend that energy but it got old.
Side story: A friend of mine is a huge Wheel of Time fan. He has reread the books dozens of times. He started a book club where we worked at the time just to have someone to discuss them with (which i joined). This was in the days leading up to the final 3 coming out, so quite a while ago. It’s flawed. 90% of the plot could have been fixed by saying “then they actually talked to each other”. Women characters weren’t generally treated with care. Hell, dudes weren’t either in a lot of cases. When Brandon Sanderson took over the character voices changed. And I have bitched about all the issues with the books. But only because I really enjoyed them.
So when I come out and complain about yet another Spock romance, how the women aren’t being treated right, reversing the polarity of the jammy dodger flow (oh, that’s Doctor Who), Trelane vs Q, or whatever else it’s because I genuinely like Trek. I don’t talk about DS9 or the later seasons of Discovery because they’re just not my cup of tea. I’m going to let the people who like them have their own conversation without my negative opinion tainting the conversation.
