Watch out for the “video suggestions” in your home feed with the title “introducing ….” These are product placements they make even with the premium subscription. I HATE ads so I pulled the plug.

So far so good. The fuckers at youtube support acknowledged serving ads to me even with my premium membership, so they can suck a big fat dick.

I was happy to pay for youtube as a service until they broke the shit out of their algorithms and started shoving ads to my face in premium. Did a chargeback and got my money back. Fuck these monkeys.

Youtube premium serves you ads on your home feed even though it claims the premium is ad free. I did a chargeback on my credit card and got my money back from Google because of this. The issue is the sneakiness of the company, not the fact that I do not want to support creators. I’m not even gonna get into the decline in overall quality because google uses stupid ass algorithms.

Any difference in remote access? I think you gotta pay plex for that.

On Android try NewPipe, but dont expect algorithm recommendations, just the main trending pages. Same for iOS use “unwatched”

• Harden SSH by only allowing public key authentication and use strong keys to authenticate instead of passwords.
• Setup fail2ban (lots of online resources, check Linode guides) to block malicious IPs temporarily.
• If the data you store is something only you should see, then it should not ever be connected to the internet, airgap wherever possible.
• And finally, keep your shit updated.
