It’s not just for coding either. Yesterday, my senior director used Google’s AI to ask about the architecture to integrate one of our vendor products with our ERP system (usually my job). Fortunately the AI did me a solid and said “This is a highly complex integration 🤯”.
Yeah… No shit, that’s why so many of us are employed. Shit’s complicated.
I honestly thought vibe coding was a joke until someone posted a video about it and then realized people were serious.
It’s basically the equivalent to your friend who has a brilliant idea for an app and just needs you to do the coding for it - without having any clue how IT actually works.
Yep, I work for a smaller company and there’s a FOMO rush to get AI everywhere. If you want to get a new project funded, it has to be AI. So now anything that is automated is getting sold as “AI”.

14·5 months agoI followed the #2 link he linked about cloud seeding. From the article:
Veteran Houston meteorologist Travis Herzog weighed in this week, calling the theory scientifically unfounded.
“Cloud seeding cannot create a storm of this magnitude or size. In fact, cloud seeding cannot even create a single cloud,” Herzog said. “All it can do is take an existing cloud and enhance the rainfall by up to 20% — and even that is on the high end.”
He compared the theory to blowing out a candle and assuming one could extinguish a wildfire. “It is a matter of scale,” he said.
It’s pretty ballsy to provide a link with someone calling out your bullshit while acting as if that link proves your point.

Yeah feel like there is some context needed. Is OP pissing and shitting in that sink?
Yeah I’ve effectively given up on email at this point. Just Teams me. And don’t say “hey”. Say what the fuck you want.

5·7 months agoLol I didn’t watch it at first either. I was gonna ask you “wtf is vibe coding?” but then figured I should watch the video first.
Best I can tell is you put on some mood lighting, glasses, and music. Then have AI build a program for you. The guy in the video legitimately thinks this is a solution for getting rid of 80% of your software development team.

351·7 months agoI love how this is a universal experience.
Ugh this just reminded me that I ran into this exact issue a couple years ago. We were running jobs every hour to ingest data from an API into our data warehouse. Eventually we got reports from users about having gaps in our data. We dug into it for days trying to find a pattern, but couldn’t pinpoint anything. We were just missing random pieces of data, but our jobs never reported any failures.
Eventually we were able to determine the issue. HTTP 200 with “error: true” in the response. Fml

Isn’t it crazy that basically every election at this point is basically like:
- Option 1) We keep the status quo, nothing really changes.
- Option 2) We burn it all down to the ground. Not to rebuild something better, but just for the hell of it.

Second, none of what they’re doing is actually what they campaigned on. Trump actually tried to distance himself as much as possible from Project 2025 during the campaign.
