Had a friend telling me the same, lol. FWIW, I got into Metro after watching the series of The Linux Gaming Experiment, where Nick played Metro Exodus - so I kinda enjoy Exodus more, lol.

Started playing War Robots again. There’s an event with a few perks, so I even got premium for 5 days for free.

Gotta finish Metro Exodus at some point tho.

I can’t deny there were some cases where the authorities have exaggerated. Especially recently. But you know where these people are actually coming from.

You maybe know that it’s not these cases they’re referring to when they talk about the lack of free speech.

Ah, of course it’s about the serious violations on free speech in *checks notes* the brutal dictatorships of Britain and Germany. The dictatorship of common sense dictating you how not to be an asshole.

Lately, I’ve been in a bunch of electric cars, including the Tesla (which was a Bolt or an Uber). I must say, I was impressed. Beyond the main purpose of saving the environment, there are plenty of other perks that they have:

• You can barely feel and hear it. On an ICE car, you always hear the engine running and feeling the vibration of it. Even if it’s largely unnoticeable, it’s basically still there. And whenever you rev the engine, it’s getting even more noticeable. On an electric car, there’s no such thing as engine noise. It’s basically either working or not working. And when it’s working, there are fewer moving parts making this noise and shaking the car around.
• They always come with an automatic transmission, so they’re easier to drive. I know that might not be an advantage out there in the US, since you also have ICE cars with automatic transmission, but here in the rest of the world it does make a difference, since almost all cars are manual.
• A way better acceleration. I know some of the cars I’ve been in were basically sport cars, but I never felt like being stuck to the seat in a car before.

I honestly don’t even know why would anyone oppose the switch, tbh. Okay, I know it takes more to fill it up than just sticking the pump in and pressing the handle, but the capacities that modern batteries have, make it feasible to just time your trips in a way that you can even charge them at home overnight or something.

It was unreliable on my potato computer and with the speeds of back then for me, but I remember that pretty much all of my friends used it. I had to use my mum’s computer to join in lol.

@jagged_circle You don’t install a Bluesky instance, rather you host your own PDS, or your own web client, or the feed part. It’s all a mess and the latter has very high system requirements for one to self-host from what I understood. Basically, it’s impossible if you’re not a company with the willing and the money to do it.

If decentralization actually happens on Bluesky, it will be more confusing for the average person than with something like Mastodon.

@lemmydividebyzero I’m sure that there are solutions. But I’m doing it via my regular notes in markdown. I’m just typing the list before I go out or whenever some things finish (like detergent) and they’re right there. Whenever I put something in my cart I just add a checkmark next to it (I make my list using checkmarks next to the items with [ ]).
