There are also a few “oppressed populations choose violence” stories in the early seasons where that is considered simply wrong, as opposed to some in later seasons where it is treated with nuance.

Did you see how everyone looked at Sisko, and how he talked about it afterwards with Dax like “Holy shit, I went too far, didn’t I old man?” “Yes, you did, and you’re lucky you got away with that shit, Benjamin.”
The show highlighted the problem, and that it was not the right thing to do, and how Sisko needed to be aware of that going forward.
